Curriculum Subjects

Our  curriculum has been carefully designed to ensure the children  cover the full range of subjects in a  progressive and coherent way. Learning is planned in detail so that knowledge and skills build, term on term and year on year. Subjects are taught discretely and can be viewed on the website however where appropriate tied together by overarching topics which are exciting and engaging. Key drivers for our curriculum focus on reading and vocabulary, inclusivity and diversity, and outdoor learning. These are used to ensure that every child gets what they need when learning across the whole range of curriculum subjects.

You can see your child's learning overviews for each team if you visit the year group pages. If you would like to find out more about the curriculum your child is following please talk to their class teacher. Alternatively you can take a look at the National Curriculum website which is set out by different keystages https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/national-curriculum

Forest School

In additional to statutory curriculum subjects every child gets a series of Forest School lessons in each year, the children absolutely love these and learn so many different skills. We are passionate about the importance of Forest School and opportunities to learn outdoors in general. It is well researched that being outdoors supports mental wellbeing and we see this in the effect it has on our pupils every day. You can find out more on our Forest School page here.

Working With Others

We are a WWO accredited school and believe that the skills taught through this scheme will be  invaluable to our children throughout their lives. You can find out more about this program and what we do at Hertford here.
