The Importance of being active

Active 60 minutes
The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity is of huge importance. The Chief Medical Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30minutes should be in school.

Did you know? Prisoners spend more time outside than 75% of school aged children (The Guardian 2016)
Why Physical Activity?
- Only 17.5% of children are active for at least 60minutes per day
- Active children decrease the risk of obseity
- Less likely to have mental health issues
- Improve social skills
- Active children on average achieve 2 grades higher in their exams.
