Active 60 minutes

The engagement of all pupils in regular physical activity is of huge importance. The Chief Medical  Officer guidelines recommend that all children and young people aged 5 to 18 engage in at least 60minutes of physical activity a day, of which 30minutes should be in school.

Did you know?  Prisoners spend more time outside than 75% of school aged children (The Guardian 2016)

Why Physical Activity?

  • Only 17.5% of children are active for at least 60minutes per day
  • Active children decrease the risk of obseity
  • Less likely to have mental health issues
  •  Improve social skills
  • Active children on average achieve 2 grades higher in their exams.
