Brighton & Hove School Games Code of Conduct
Parents/Carers/Spectators/Coaches/Teachers must set an example for all young people participating in events by exemplifying the highest standards of sporting etiquette. The events are for young people and their participation and enjoyment is the most important element.
We encourage and remind all Parents/Carers/Spectators/Coaches/Teachers to:
Always approach the event organiser in the first instance with any issue or concern. Please do not approach Sports Leaders with your issue or concern.
Encourage your child/team to learn the rules and play within them.
Discourage unfair play and arguing with the officials.
Set a good example by recognising fair play and applauding good performances.
Respect the referee’s decision, especially if those officials are Sport Leaders. These young leaders have kindly given up their time to volunteer and help at today’s event. Without their help these events would not run.
Give encouragement to everyone who is participating.
Use correct and proper language at all times.
Refrain from shouting and screaming.
Please refrain from smoking around the pitch/court area.
No photos to be taken by parent / carers at School Games events. School staff only have permission to take pictures of their children and share these images on social media. (If correct permissions have been granted by their parents)
If parent / carers attend a School Games event they must not enter the school building that the event is taking place at during school hours. Schools must provide badges for their parent / carer spectators so we know which adults are on school site. They will also be asked to sign in at events which are taking place during school hours.
