School Development 2020-2023

Developments following Ofsted inspection – Yes, we CAN!                             A message from our Senior Leaders and School Governors

Besides getting the children back up to speed after the summer lockdown, we are also busy addressing the findings of the Ofsted inspection last March. These are the improvements we are making in the areas that Ofsted said needed attention:

Reading: Ofsted recognised the progress we have made in maths and writing, and we are now taking a similar approach to rapidly improve standards in reading.

Other subjects: Building on those subjects that Ofsted said were good, we are strengthening the remaining subjects so that all our children have the rounded education they deserve.

Leadership: Senior school leaders are now supported by teaching and learning leads who focus on teaching standards and pupil progress in all subjects.

School governance: The school governors have put in place a three-year strategy and are recruiting additional governors so that they can effectively monitor and support its implementation.

All this is explained in more detail in the webcast above.

This school improvement plan will receive our undivided attention in the new year. For now, our top priority is making sure our children get back on track after all the disruption caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

If you have any questions or comments, please email these to the Acting Headteacher Rachael Durneen at office@hertfordjun.brighton-hove.sch.uk
