Testimonials

Hertford Junior school is a small, local school with a big heart!heart

Our family live and work in Hollingdean and the surrounding areas. My youngest son is currently in Year 4. He is happiest when he is competing in sporting events and is thriving at the Junior school. He loves the open space the school offers where he can play basketball, box hockey, football and cricket to name a few. He loves competing in the yearly Running Challenge which is an after school run club as well as Cricket club and Football club. The after school clubs (and the few before school!) are great and give a magnificent choice to the children both sporty, arty, creative, love nature or the ever popular Homework Club.

My son feels safe and secure in the knowledge that all the staff know him and our family. His current teacher has now taught all his three siblings too! He is happy that his headmistress is the same as the infant school he came from.  He and his friends live locally and so see each other at community events held at the school such as the Summer and Christmas Fair and Firework Spectacular. As a Year 4 child he is most looking forward to his first overnight stay later this school year, held in the school hall, and is already talking about the residentials in Years 5 and 6!

He comes home most afternoons telling me what a great day he's had and what they've done in class, especially if it is a PE day or he's had singing. He is currently reconstructing a Viking Long Boat!

Dear Hertford and the wonderful kids who were our guides,

A big thanks for such an informative tour this morning!

We had already made the decision that our daughter would be going to the Juniors next year, but it was great to see the space and find out about all the creative clubs and ways of working that the children will be involved in during their time there. I was particularly impressed by the library, the forest garden, the extensive access to open spaces and of course the chickens!

One year 3 class also gave us an brilliant demonstration of their maths learning and it was good to hear more about the opportunities for playing a variety of musical instruments. Also nice to hear that music is embedded in the curriculum too.
